Quilting Service
Welcome to Berrima Design Quilting.
We can help you finish your quilting project with our Gammill Computerised Quilting Machine and the Statler Stitcher, giving that extra finishing touch.
It requires no basting or pinning by you.
Hundreds of patterns to choose from for edge to edge designs, borders, corners and individual block designs.
- Edge to Edge Quilting - is a pattern that is especially designed to repeat across the entire quilt width and height, giving stunning results for all over quilting. These patterns vary from a light stitching density, to medium and heavy. And with the computerised Statler Stitcher we can adjust size and repeats of a pattern to suit your quilt. Priced from $3.50 to $4.50 per sq.ft
- Edge to Edge Plus - this is where you choose an edge to edge pattern for an internal section of your quilt, and then adding a separate border pattern around the outside border. Priced from $4.50 per sq.ft
- Custom Quilting - where you choose more than one pattern or design to fit specific areas like blocks, borders, internal edge to edge, baptist fans. circles, feathers. cross hatching etc. Priced from $7.70 per sq.ft
- Stitch in the Ditch - This puts the stitching as closely as possible into the seams of the quilt blocks. It is the slowest type of stitching. Priced from $7.70 per sq.ft
- Turning fee for separate borders - If required $25.00
Most machine quilters charge by the size of the quilt top combined with the style of quilting requested. The various styles of quilting are charged at different rates as explained above.
First measure your quilt top to find the length and width in inches. Since every machine and every quilter will sew a slightly different quarter inch seam, you must actually measure your top instead of relying on the finished measurements given in your pattern.
To calculate the cost of quilting:
- multiply your length in inches times your width in inches. Then follow the formula below subsituting your dimemsions and the quoted pricing. For example:-
- say you would like an edge to edge and have chosen a light density pattern.
- to calculate the total square feet of your quilt: Say your quilt top size measures 80" x 90", multiplied this equals 7200 sq inches. We now need to calculate what 7200 sq inches is in square feet:
- 7200 sq in divided by 144 sq inches (this is how many square inches in in one square foot) = 50 sq feet
- so your quilt top is 50 sq ft, multiply 50 sq ft by the cost of light density quilting, say $3.50 = $175.00.
The cost of your quilt will be $175.00.
Important Tip:
Square up your quilt and straighten edges.
Backing fabric should be cut on straight grain of fabric and selvedge's removed. Joining seams pressed open. And very importantly a total of 6 to 8 inches larger overall than your top on both the width and length measurements, as should the wadding also.
You are of course welcome to supply your own wadding and backing fabric, but please be aware that quality products do make a nicer finished quilt.
We do sell at very competitive prices the following wadding:
